From June 2022, it was widely known that all new build homes in England were required to emit 30% less carbon than under previous regulations. The changes for new builds were welcome but are only part of the story and not enough to ensure the pace of progress needed to achieve the national net zero target. This paper explores the case for retrofit and why it's important. It also gives example of what is working in terms of both technology and process. The theme of performance and wellbeing also explores how we can use net zero refurbishment more fit for purpose with a focus on indoor air quality.
